A national campaign to raise awareness of mental wellbeing will be visiting Wales this autumn with some added backing from Bradite paints. The Baton of Hope is a community-led initiative supported by people and places that have felt the impact of suicide.

A national tour will be visiting UK cities from September to October. Volunteers will be carrying and passing from hand to hand a beautifully-crafted metal baton – designed and made by the makers of the FA Cup – as it makes it progress from Blackpool to London. When it arrives in Wrexham, on October 4, locally produced wooden batons designed by artist Emma-Jayne Holmes and a team of volunteers will be displayed in local gardens along the route as the official baton makes its progress.

The garden batons are being painted in One Can’s RAL 5015 Sky Blue, which have been donated to the project by Bradite. Visitors are being asked to make a contribution to the organising charity in return for receiving one of the small batons. Considerable interest is also anticipated at the various Hope Hubs along the Wrexham route where community events with music, performances, speakers, activities, and stalls from supportive groups will be present. Baton of Hope UK was founded in 2022 by two parents who lost their sons to suicide and wanted to turn their pain into purpose. ww.bradite.com
